very much: to a very great degree or extent

If 'very much' means the above, then 'stll very much means the following:

still very much: to a lesser degree

For example:

"Although Morocco was still very much on the Islamic frontier, a sort of Islamic Wild West, it was part of the Islamic world-system, and benefited from the prosperity that was brought by this."
