Still do

Hi teachers,

His description applies to millions of Americans. Those who already opposed expanded offshore drilling still do. Those on the fence may have gone over to the anti side for now, but if the past is prelude, not for long.

1. What does "still do" mean?

2. Does "prelude" mean "a preface to"? I am confused with the two words.

Thank you.

Hi Mister Micawber,

Thank you for your help.

a prelude to vs a preface to The dictionary does not say the difference.

The fighting in the streets may be a prelude ot more serious trouble.

The accident was the preface to a great scientific discovery.

How to understand them?

Thank you.

The intention seems the same there, but I still think that 'prelude' carries a sense of foreboding (for good or ill) that 'preface' does not. A 'preface' is more explanatory in nature.
