Still a beginner

Dear teachers...

Is the grammar of this text OK?

I am very happy you understood and stopped beeing so formal...

OK, since we are investing in our friendship, I would like to share a bit of my life with you. Of course, you have absolutely no obligation to do likewise!

Well, I am a 29-year-old guy, who is single, has no kids, lives alone (on my own) and helps his mother. I moved to the big city when I was 17, a very young boy who dreamed about graduating from college. Back in the countryside, all I did was study. Nowadays I am doing my doctorate in Chemical Engineering, I guess it will be done by the end of 2012.

Most recently I started liking this girl. She is very sweet and shares the same dificulties I went through.

I may have some knowledge in the engineering field, but when it comes to love, I am still a beginner (sometimes I wonder: Aren't we all??). She works as a professor in a neighbour city, occasionally she comes back to do her doctorate.

She knows I am interested in her. My big question is: Will she and I have a chance?

Thanks
