Stew/braise

Do the word 'stew' and 'briase' mean the same cooking method?

Are these cooking methods using the same containter?

For me "to stew" is to cook meat, vegetables and liquid slowly in an oven. To braise is to cook one thing meat or celery for example in a little fat and liquid not necessarily in an oven. GG is very good with cooking questions,
