Stay cool

I grasp "stay cool" sounds more informal than "calm down". Is my understanding right?

I agree, but it would be more common to say "be cool".

Yes.

Edit. I agree with Vorpar. "Stay cool" is more often a parting wish.

As an aside, "I grasp 'stay cool' sounds etc." is a bit uncommon.

"I understand [that] 'stay cool' sounds etc." is more natural.

Thanks very much your replies!

I've got one more question for Avangi. What does a parting wish mean?

Hey, take care of yourself!
Be well.
Don't take any wooden nickels!(Do they still say that?)

Hi guys,

stay cool - can be said both when the person is agitated and when the person has not yet become agitated

calm down - suggests the person is agitated
