Statistics?

We are asking councils to reduce the 30mph speed limit to 20mph in residential areas. Recent trials showed that such a limit cuts the number of child road deaths by 80%.

Are 80%, 20mph and 30mph "statistics"?

As I would see it:- 20mph and 30mph are variables, or you might think of them as parameters or measurement points. The actual number of deaths at 20mph or 30mph can be called statistics. A reduction of 80% could be called a statistic for the change in those variables.

As I would see it:-
20mph and 30mph are variables, or you might think of them as parameters or measurement points.
The actual number of deaths at 20mph or 30mph can be called statistics.
A reduction of 80% could be called a statistic for the change in those variables.

Not to me. Only the 80% looks like statistics. The others are just the original and proposed speed limits.
