Hello, I am pursuing the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) that requires to write a statement of purpose. If you have time please help me to correct my writing either the grammar or content. I really appreciate your help, thank you.
Goal of study & Study Plan | o Goal of study, title or subject of research, and detailed study plan
To become a qualified educator I realize that I still have a lack of knowledge and experience. By studying doctoral program at the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (NAOE), Pusan National University (PNU), South Korea I will able to deepen my knowledge in naval architecture. As a developed country with advanced technology in many sectors including the shipbuilding industry, South Korea is the right place to gain both in-depth knowledge and experience. Besides technology, South Korea's culture has already mesmerized me for a long time. It will be a great experience for me to learn both the Korean language and culture. To pursue my doctoral degree, I will propose a dissertation topic related to the issue of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) that needs to be concerned. According to the recent statistic data, international and domestic shipping contributes significantly to CO2 emissions. By optimizing the propeller efficiency, it will be able to reduce CO2 emissions from the ship. Based on this background, I will carry out research with a scope of work the optimization of the ducted propeller with stators. Some studies claimed that this type of propeller can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions up to 20% than a conventional ducted propeller. I had conducted an initial analysis of this topic and concluded that the more the number of stators will result in more efficient the propeller. But it still needs an in-depth and thorough analysis. I have not known yet the optimum design and standard of geometry measurement of this propeller. Like the conventional ducted propeller that has the standard measurement of the foils and nozzle, I intend to make the standard measurement of the foils, nozzle, and stators. Based on the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) program scheme, for the first year, I will focus on learning the Korean language and culture. This is fundamental to be able to blend and communicate with others. Then, for the next year that exactly becomes the first semester of my doctoral program, I will start to discuss my dissertation proposal with my supervisor, conduct a literature review in order to strengthen my topic background, and collect related data. After my proposal is being granted, I will focus on conducting research. I intend to not only carry out a numerical analysis but also an experimental analysis because I consider every numerical analysis result needs to be verified with an experiment. For the numerical analysis, I will use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method. During my research, I will able to write journal articles and publish them in international conferences and reputable journals. I desire to make publication at least one of each semester. I will use my opportunity for studying in South Korea wisely to gain both in-depth knowledge and experience.
Future Plan after Study | o Future plan in Korea or another country after study in Korea
After I graduate and earn my doctoral degree I will share the knowledge that I obtained in PNU through my current profession as an associate lecturer in Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), Indonesia. I will also implement the ideal education system of South Korea to be a better educator, as well as share any other experiences. For a long term plan, I desire to make joint research, student exchange, and world-class programs between ITS both with PNU and other universities in South Korea. Like the current cooperation between my department at ITS and Mokpo National University (MNU), I really hope ITS will able to make sustainable cooperation with any other universities in South Korea. Moreover, now my department has an international class program. It will be a great opportunity for ITS’s students to gain knowledge and experience in South Korea. In my life, I always look for great opportunities to further my knowledge and develop the skills I need throughout life because life-long learning is the key to success. I believe by studying and living in South Korea will be able to make me more open-minded in any aspect.
