Statement of Purpose for Review: Msc Finance (UK)

It is my ambition to study a finance program which is highly structured and provides the right balance between theory and practice. Your post graduate program in finance comes with this advantage and would help me develop a greater understanding of finance topics and financial industry as a whole. In addition, UK provides a conductive environment for holistic development of an individual as a professional. The reason I have decided to pursue a specialist program at this point of my career rather than an MBA is to train myself in specific areas rather than receiving a generic training.

Academically, I have always been a top achiever and received many scholar badges and merit certificates throughout my school and university education. I graduated my Masters program (M.Tech (Biomedical), Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay) with 2nd position in my batch having a GPA of 3.8/4.
Apart from my academics, I actively participated in many extra-curricular activities. I was selected to be M.Tech (Biomedical) Placement Representative in the I.I.T., Bombay placement team during 2007-2008 where I was responsible to work collectively with other team members to coordinate placement related activities for about 1200 students participating in placements. The task also required me to develop contacts and interact with HR departments of various corporations and act as a single point of contact for that group of companies. I also acted in position of M.Tech (Biomedical) Class Representative where I represented my batch in various meetings and discussions organized in the institute. I assisted the technical committee, I.W.P.S.D., held during Dec, 2007 in I.I.T, Bombay and was responsible for scheduling and managing technical sessions. Apart from that I enjoy keeping myself up-to-date with current affairs and business news.
At my current profile of "Senior Research Associate" at Evalueserve which specializes in providing customised Financial and Investment Research, Business Research, Market Research, Intellectual Property, Legal Support Services, Supply Chain Support Services, and Knowledge Technology services, I have developed considerable experience working with clients, which includes collecting data to meet their requirements, conceptualizing and researching solutions and finally managing with diverse teams during their implementation.

I believe that my skill set has instilled in me the qualities required to meet the rigor of this demanding profession. In the future I see myself, designing structured financial products by incorporating cutting edge methodologies and sophisticated tools in order to cater to the Global Markets. To achieve this I would like to gain exposure to the latest practices adopted in the field of Investment Modelling and Valuation, Financial Planning and Risk Management. After graduation, my initial goal would be to obtain a position that provides an enriching experience and knowledge. I would like to bring this acquired expertise back to India and use it to help companies thrive in a dynamic environment.
