Have you aware of the fact that how important you are for someone who runs afterher/his dreams?Dreams are there to be reached and I consider graduate program as a step to reach my dreams. Even though it is hard for many people to achieve goals, this is not the case for me due to my motivation, my achievements in courses, my academic and distinctive features.
Firstly, one of my professors has once quoted from Descartes that ‘’Mathematics is the only unit that does?makesthe most honest operation on its own ideal objects’’. It has influenced me so deeply that it has been the source of my motivation. During my academic life, I have likedmathematics day by day and I have likedto learn it. I see algebra as the basis of mathematics. I have decided to concentrate on algebra for the rest of my academic life.
Secondly, departmental electives I have taken are graduate level courses like applied courses that we use maths, economics, and finance mathematics. I have made some researches about cryptology, which is an application of algebra. Those have englightened me more and more about my future plan for algebra and have shown what I may encounter while studying algebra. The fact that matrices in linear algebra are used for examining criminals’ situations has also caught my interest.
Thirdly, symbolic prizes that I have won from competitions at high school, high honour degree I have obtained my undergraduate life motivated me and gave me emotinal support.
Except my academic life, I have attended to some social activities, social groups and have had some hobies like nature walks, riding, kangoo jumps, going to Fenerbahçe matchs, being a member of Hacettepe Economics Society, Equestrian Society and 1907 Ünifeb Hacettepe. At the same time, giving private lessons in all levels, contributing someones education about mathematics were all useful experiences for me. I have realized that all those activities are related to the applications of the courses I have taken in my undergraduate level.
I believe that Bilkent University is a complete educational facility that will help me to improve my language skills, and it has a good campus life, educational opportunities, libraries and sportive opportunities.
To sum up, my goal is to study maths specifically algebraon a graduate level. I am pretty much sure that Bilkent University will contribute a lot to my academic and personal life. I will be very proud of being a member of such kind of facility thatdoes?makesthe most honest operation on its own idealobjects.
