I'm a German student and applying for an exchange program. Could you check this letter? Thank you very much.
During my first visit to Thailand this spring, I had the chance to spend some unforgettable days in Bangkok. The centre of Southeast Asia impressed me with its wide cultural offer and its unmatched vitality. Therefore I was the more encouraged that the TUM had a reputable technical partner university in Bangkok, the Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology.
After having studied the course catalog and read many positive reports written by former exchange students, especially from HS-Weingarten, my first choice for an application within the LAOTSE program fell on the SIIT. Particularly the SIIT’s international orientation, extensive course offer and campus facilities make it the ideal host university.
Since I’m planning to continue my studies in computer science with the master’s program, which includes many electives, next year would be the perfect time for a semester abroad.
The experience I gain form a stay abroad will make a substantial contribution to my personal development, my further studies as well as to my professional career.
Moreover I am looking forward to learning more about Thai culture, e.g. in Thai studies, meeting people from different backgrounds and making new friends.
The practical knowledge I have gained from working at software companies beside my studies will help me to successfully complete an internship in Thailand, as it is intended by the LAOTSE program. In addition, I’m willing to put as much effort in studies and participate in student life as I do at my home university so that SIIT students will benefit from my stay abroad, too.
I would regard my admission to the SIIT not only as a great honour but also as a high responsibility and opportunity to represent my university in the best possible way. Thus I would appreciate if Munich and the SIIT develop the same lively exchange as it exists between the SIIT and Weingarten.
Sincerely yours,
