This is my statement to apply an exchange student program...
please make some corrections for me..
During the summer vacation, I went to Thailand as a volunteer. The main works were teaching English to elementary school students and helping them to build their playground. That was my first volunteering in other country. When I went there, I met one Korean guy who goes to Korea University as a business major. He told me about how great the business program Korea University has. Then he asked me why I don’t study in Korea. And when I came back to U.S for school, I also thought that it will be great experience for me to go to college in Korea.
On September 2005, I came to United States as an exchange student to study English and experience American culture, and I ended up going college in U.S to study a business management rather than in Korea. However when I went to Thailand, one guy gave me a beneficial influence on my mind.
As an exchange student at Korea University especially in business school, I can learn more about business related to Korean culture and their business status as well. For now, I’m taking accounting classes. So, the exchange program can fill the gap between the difference accounting system in Korea and what I have learned in here. Also, I will have chance to experience Korean college life. As I mentioned above, I have experienced 4 years of studying abroad in U.S, for that reason I know how to become the part of school as an exchange student.
Most of my friends, who are attending college in Korea, told me that there are so many things to do, in and outside of college. Not only taking the classes in college, but also there are many scholarship programs, a conferences, a contests mainly for the college student. For me, I have some plans, such as getting an internship at an accounting firm in Korea, since it is hard to get an internship in U.S as a Korean. I hope I can have more change to get it when I come back with my internship experiences. And participating in a contest or a conference will be great experiences too. I heard that there is a “Public college ambassador” who is campaign for school publicity. This is one of my plans that I want to do. And I would like to do volunteer work at Korea, rather than in any other countries. Personally, I want to do any volunteer works that I can do more than a year. So I’m still looking for what would be the perfect one for me.
The last but not least purpose of participate in this program for me is that I can spend some time with my family in Korea. After I came to United States, I could not spend time with my family. I know that this is very personal purpose; however it is a perfect time for my parents. I can get chance to study business at Korea University with my family for a while.
If I do get a chance to Korea University as an exchange student, I’m sure that I will have very effective experience for my future, as business school student.
