Starved for/of

Which is correct, "We are starved for/of revenues"?

Thanks.

For me, it must be "starved of revenue". "for" just sounds wrong. However, there are sufficient plausible-looking Google hits for the latter to make wonder whether some native speakers do legitimately use it.
