Starting a spoken sentence with an adverb.

I am wondering if starting a sentence with an adverb is a proper form of spoken English.

Some Examples:

"Apparently we can't, despite the fact that we have the key."

"Consequently, we now have to fill out reports."

"Evidently, the criminal cut the wires to the alarm system."

I also have another question, how do you insert an image below your forum name?

  • Click on Profile and go to the section called 'avatars', which deals with images.
  • Choose a good one, OK?

Thank you Clide. I am able to click on the profile tab in the upper right corner of my screen, but I see no avatar section, only Private Settings, About You, Timezone, Signature, Public Contact Information, Sight Options, and finally Email Options. Is the avatar section so inconspicuous that I cannot see it? Or am I just blind?

Hi,

It should be there, I think. When I click on ONI to the left of your post, I see your various sections including that one. Try that.

Thank you for the assistance once again Clide, still no luck though. Perhaps the option is enabled when a user has been part of this forum for so long or a certain amount of posts are reached. <shrugs>

I was told by Mike in Japan that only Administrators and Moderators can have avatars. I don't really know why, but that is the case.

Best,

Oni,

You are right. The 'avtar' section doesn't appear under 'profile' section.
