start sentence with depending? NATIVE SPEAKR help please

Can you start a sentence with depending? Would it go like :
Depending on ...., you'll either....

Depending on the number of copies of the same book the store already has, the store will buy your book back from you for either 5 or 10 dollars.

Which of these are correct and is there a difference?

Depending on your grades, you'll either get into a nice college or a bad one.
Whether you get into a good or bad college depends on your grades.

Whether we book the photographer of not depends on her rates.
We'll book the photographer depending on her rates.
Depending on her rates, we'll either book the photographer or not.
