Starging a conversation, can you help?

Hi,
When you are starting a conversation with your higher authority through chat, is that formal or good way to start it with asking/saying "Hi Rob, hope you are doing very well"

? Is that correct? Or I should use any other sentence to start with?

Thanks a lot!
