Stands on its own

Hi

Does stand on its own mean stand alone (without any adjacent buildings) here? Any other suggestions about the sentence please?

Their new mall was very ideally located. It stood on its own and there were no other malls in the close vicinity. It was a very good business move.

Thanks,

Tom
