My stamina is not the same as when I was younger. Or

My stamina is not the same as when I was young.

Can both be used?

Very commonly said and very idiomatic is this pattern: My stamina is not what it used to be.

Hi,

I wonder whether one can compare the state of 'my stamina' with an adverbial as it is here with this 'when I was younger/young'. In my opinion it is grammatically incoherent and should be rephrased like this:

My stamina is not the same as it was when I was younger/was young.
