Staged a walkout

Hi teachers,

I've seen expressions like "staged a comeback" as in politics; "staged a walkout" as in strikes.

What does "stage" exactly mean?

Does "stage a war" work? "wage a war" is what I found in dictionary.

Does "wield a war" work?

Thank you.

'Stage' means to organize and produce, like a stage play. You cannot organize a war. And 'wield' refers to weapons, not an event.
