Squishy thing on head

"Who the f*** needs panels? People with a squishy thing at the top of their head."

Can you please tell me what it means, a squishy thing at the top of their head? It must be some kind of metaphor, I guess.

it's really quite delicate. Meaning, here, I suppose, is that one's need for parents doesn't last for long. Metaphor?

I think it must refer to the "soft spot" at the top a newborn's head....it's really quite delicate. Meaning, here, I suppose, is that one's need for parents doesn't last for long. Metaphor? I don't think so. An exaggeration? Most definitely.

Thank you. Sorry I still don't understand. What has it do to with panels (the conversation is about comic panels)?

Person A said, "who the f*** needs panels?"
Person B said, "people with a squishy thing at the top of their head"

What is it supposed to mean?

I'm going to guess the squishy thing is a thought balloon, but that is far from certain.
