Squat

Hello,

I have some problems in understanding this sentence. First, where does the computer sit atop? On a book shelf? what is a "squat bookcase"?

Second, what does "subdued and cerebral" mean, when used for people?

"Normally subdued and cerebral, Mr. Ozzie inhabits a spacious office at Microsoft’s headquarters here. His shelves and desks are uncluttered, and one of the first I.B.M. personal computers ever made sits atop a squat bookcase."

I should think "short" rather than "low."

You could stack a number of squat bookcases in such a way that some would be "high."

Or you could place it atop a tall dresser.
