Squashed sofa seats

Hi

Is the word squashed natural here? Are there any better options? Any other suggestions about the sentence are welcome.

squashed = permanently pressed

The sofa seats had been completely squashed by the constant use in 14 years.

Thanks,

Tom

Squashed is okay. " I would word the last of the sentence differently, however: The sofa seats had been completely flattened by 14 years of constant use.

Squashed is okay. You could also say "flattened." I would word the last of the sentence differently, however:

The sofa seats had been completely flattened by 14 years of constant use.

Thanks, Doctor D.

...but sometimes seats/cushions get 'sunk' or 'pressed' -- do you think flattened would still work?

It depends on what the cushions look like.
You can also use "compressed" or "compacted" if you want to say that they are not totally flat.
