Spring...?

Hi everybody!!
My English teacher will drive me crazy!!
She told us that "Spring" also means "jump"..is that true??
I mean, when someone says the word "Spring" I would think about the Spring season...
I´m so confused..Emotion: tongue tiedEmotion: tongue tied maybe she has invented it!:P

You can "spring into action," for example, to use it figuratively, or "spring up from your chair."

It's also often used to describe the way a large cat (like a panther) would suddenly move.

Yes, it's used.

To really mean "jump" probably more for animals than humans. But for people to arise suddenly ("He sprang up in alarm"), yes. Even your eyes can spring open if you are awakened suddenly.
