spread the secret

Did you spread the secret I told you?

I wonder if I could also say let out/pass the secret instead of the phrase in bold. By the way, are there more alternatives? Thanks.

Hi Angliholic I would not use either let out or pass. However, you might ask someone whether they d i vulged or revealed a secret. Both of those would also be more formal than spread the secret .

  • And instead of spread the secret , I think I would be more likely to say one of these: - Did you tell / Have you told anyone (else) the secret I told you?
  • - What I told you was a secert.

Hi Angliholic

Sorry about that. I managed to misspell "divulge" in my last post.
I'll correct it. Thanks for pointing that out.
