Vocabulary

• spread out

Hi!

I read the following question in a TOEIC book:

"142. If you just want to ______, come and spread out in our cosy guestrooms, furnished with luxury beds, cotton-rich linens, fluffy feather pillows.

(A) remove

(B) deter

(C) unwind

(D) tense

(Answer: C)" ((p. 125, by Renald Rilcy, Achieve TOEIC))

Would you please paraphrase the phrasal verb “spread out” in the above question? What is the meaning of “spread out” in the question?

Thanks in advance.

It probably means that you lie down with your legs/arms spread out or perhaps just in a position that is comfortable.

I am not sure how to explain spread out in this sentence to you.. but I'll give it a try!

it means that if you just want to unwind .. you can come and make yourself confortable/relax in their cosy guestroom

to me spread out in this sentence means like you can just relax and make yourself at home in their rooms to distress...

hope this help
