Spotting Errors

The majority of the computer professionals recommends that effective measures should be taken against software piracy.

My book says that it should be 'A majority' but I believe only 'Majority' should be fine. please correct me.

An article is required. Both "The majority" and "A majority" are OK, and they mean near enough the same thing. I would write "recommend" not "recommends".
