Spotting Errors

One of the world's smaller coins is found in the museum which is quite near from the old fort.

My book says that it should be 'near the old fort'

Can't I use 'near to' or only 'near' is fine? Please advise. Thank you

Top answer

You can use 'near' or 'near to', but not 'near from'. You need a comma after 'museum'.

Near and near to are both fine. Near from is not.
I would normally use near.
