Spotted Sb Verb+ing Or Infinitive

Hello everyone,

Is it okay for either "infinitive" or "gerund" to follow "spotted" as follows?

1. I spotted him going inside the room.

2. I spotted him go inside the room.

Regards,

JA

Both are possible. There's a slight difference in meaning, in that "going inside the room" implies that you saw only part of the action (he may have stopped and turned back) while the less likely "go inside the room" implies that you saw the whole thing.
