Spot a mistake

Hello! Could anybody help me to find a mistake in this sentence "It is not money wise to buy a leather dress in every possible shade"? I was told there was an avoidable grammar mistake there. Thanks!

Maggie Crucian I was told there was an avoidable grammar mistake there. I suspect the complaint related to "money wise". Other than that I don't see a real mistake.

Should I have used a hyphen there? Like "money-wise". Or is this form completely incorrect?

I would not say that it was completely incorrect, but it's informal. As I would never write such an expression, I can't help with the hyphen.

Hi,
money wise
I consider such a phrase as adverb, therefore, I treat it as such;

Ex. Beer is better than coke, health wise, but coke is better than beer, calorie wise.
Ex. I don't think it would be a good strategy, money wise.

Therefore, in your particular example, I would say;

It is not good to buy a leather dress in every

I believe this is it. Thank you for your help!
