Sportsmam?

Does the word sportsman refer only to adults?
Do you use this word to a 8 years-old-child? for example.

Hi My answer would be yes, that's what we say. There isn't really a word in English that is used to congratulate young people for being good at sport. Although only eight, he's a great sportsman or she is a great sportswoman I can't think of any exceptions.
