I'm having some trouble with the words sport and sports. For example, in the following line, which one should it be?
(describing a line of products) ... makers of accessories and apparel for sports and travel.
Within this same write up, was a blurb that says: Sport and Travel Systems

Sport and Travel Systems -- Here singular (or uncountable) because it is an adjective– but ' sports ' could also have been used.
Although we usually use the singular when a noun becomes an adjective ( shoestore, train station, etc), it is not a universal rule, and sports is an irregular exception: sports club, sport shirt .
