Sponsorship/Donation Letter

Question

I am in need of drawing up a sponsorship/donation letter for my sports team.  I am also in the works of putting together a charity softball tournament and would like to be able to use this letter in the same way.

this is what i came up with. it seems ok to me but i'm not sure how it flows of it is too bulky and whatnot:

Dear Sir or Madam:

I am writing this letter on behalf of [team name]. We are a Men’s Class D softball team playing
out of [location]. Our team consists of guys that are fathers, veterans, and church goers. The team formed two years ago but our history goes back a decade. We have all played recreation sports with each other off and on throughout those years.

The past two years our team has grown exponentially in experience, skill, and performance from 0-30 our inaugural
season to 14-16 this last year. This has all been done with the lack of adequate resources and equipment. Next year we are looking to add to our total wins and hopefully win the league. We will also be playing in weekend tournaments throughout [location] such as [example].

A sponsorship from your company would go directly to new equipment, uniforms, fees and travel cost. We are a great group of young guys that will represent and hold you and your company in the
utmost highest regards. Any monetary help that your company can provide is welcome.
We can provide you with all receipts needed for tax purposes, and a portion of the profits made from tournaments will be donated in your name to a charity of your choice as well. I know with your help we can only better ourselves as a team and whenever we win, you win.

On behalf of our team, I thank you for taking the time to read this letter. If you choose to make an investment in us, you will not be disappointed. I hope to be hearing from you soon.

(ie you, your families, your friends, your supporters)

Will there be the company name on your shirts?

Will you have more than one sponsor, or just a sole one?

Do you get any press coverage?

How much money do you need? Can you suggest a figure?

Should you say up front that you are looking for a sponsor? I don't know.

Will you have more than one sponsor, or just a sole one? yes more than one sponsor
Do you get any press coverage? not much that I have seen...

How much money do you need? Can you suggest a figure? we need about $2000.....suggest perhaps $500?? or whatever they feel??

Should you say up front that you are looking for a sponsor? I don't know. I debated this a little bit...perhaps rearranging the paragraphs to intro of who we are-~~asking for sponsorship~~-growth of the team????????
