sponsorship letter for an event

Hello everyone:


I have been volunteered to be part of an sponsorship committee to ask other business for money to help fund an upcoming conference and I was wondering if any one could tell me what I should have in the letter or a template or even an example of such a letter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Our group is planning to raise a fund for a MTB downhill race which the proceed will be given to children who needs school supplies this coming school year. I just like to ask a way of convincing sponsors in helping us raising the fund for the event through writing sponsorship letter.
