i am a fitness competitor and need some guidance on writing a sponsorship letter to a supplement company that I like and use to help sponsor me in and throughout my journey of bodybuilding. in return I would advertise their company at the shows I attend or that will be in the future shows.

I am preparing to compete for my biggest challenge ahead which is the NPC 2013 National Figure competition in Fort Lauderdale FL on November 23, 2013. I will have the opportunity to become an IFBB Figure Pro

I am very excited to compete in a field of competitors ranking top in the nation just 2 years after struggling with obesity, but here I stand, and want to be able to train at this level and continue to make a living. I would be grateful if you helped in sponsoring me in this Bodybuilding competition for my chance to become an IFBB Figure pro. More than 850 competitors will be competing with me in November and all my sponsors will be named in this huge competition as well as on my coach’s website, newspaper coverage, magazine coverage and will be placed on the bulletin board at Gold’s Gym. Competing at a regional and state level is very expensive but competing at a national level increases the costs associated with this sport exponentially.

The amount a sponsor may contribute is flexible. You could assist me through one of the options listed below.

Does your target audience know what the National Figure competition is? Do they know IFBB?
The next sentence is very weak.You repeat very similar words - compete, competition, competitors.

Instead, bring up your achievements so far, and your goals. For example:

Over the past two years, I conquered obesity. Now I am extremely proud of what I have done and motivated to go and win at the next level. Obesity is a serious epidemic, and role models for kids are needed to help them get on a path to healthiness. I want to be that example but I need your help.

You mention "making a living" - but it is not clear how this competition fits that goal. Instead, link a specific goal (do you want to manage a gym or teach health and fitness or what?)

I made some changes and added in my goals. Yes the target audience knows what National Figure competition is because I am reaching out to supplement companies in the fitness/bodybuilding industry. I will work on the logos description and enter an image.

I am preparing to compete for my biggest challenge ahead which is the National Physique Committee (NPC) 2013 National Figure competition in Fort Lauderdale FL on November 23, 2013. If I place in the top three of my division, I will become an International Federation of Body Building and Fitness (IFBB) Figure Pro.

Over the past two years, I conquered obesity. Now I am extremely proud of what I have done and motivated to go and win at the next level. Obesity is a serious epidemic, and role models for kids are needed to help them get on a path to healthiness. I want to be that example but I need your help. I am currently seeking sponsorship and endorsements to further establish me in the fitness industry and help pay for competition costs in my journey to become an IFBB Professional athlete. More than 900 competitors will be competing at NPC Nationals this November.

My personal sponsors will be recognized on all marketing materials for Fired Up Physique Team, on (www.***..com), bodybuilding.com, the bulletin board at XYZ’s Gym in *** Maryland, local newspapers, and more. Competing at a Regional and State level is very expensive but competing at a National level increases the costs associated with this sport exponentially and I appreciate any support your company may provide.

I am also happy to set up a (Company name) table at two area gyms and endorse your product in any way I can. I am a huge fan of (Company) which I always ask my nutritionist to include in my nutrition plans both pre and post competition. Your supplements have helped me tremendously during my preparation for a show.
