Sponsorship letter

Hi, I am organizing an event, a university ball. I have never dealt with sponsorships before and was wondering if you would be able assist me. Could you possibly provide me with a generic guide as I am not sure what other information to provide you with.

To begin with, make some notes about: What you want Why you want it How it would be delivered When the ball is and when you need the money/goods What's in it for the sponsor (recognition? advertising? ) Then, construct a letter and post it here (if you want) for criticism.

I want to submit a letter to UK embassy requesting for Spouse Visa as my wife is working over there for a hospital. It has to be delivered to the Consulate General, British Deputy High Commission, Chennai. The sponsor letter fom my wife for the purpose is also enclosed. The planned date for the journey is on 20th February 2004.
