Sponsorship and donations

i am commissioner over youth football and cheerleading we are a small town and lots of low income families.we struggle every year to financially support the league without charging a large fee.we charge enough to cover insurance and partial uniforms but we still have to provide equipment.i was wondering if i could get some ideas on how to get more response on getting businesses and the community to sponsor a child or make donations to the league?
