I see ppl around me use wonder and afraid frequently can some one tell me when to use wonder and when to use afraid.

I wonder if it's going to rain. I'm curious. I really don't know. (I'm not saying if I want it to rain or not.)

I'm afraid it's going to rain. I don't know for sure, but my best guess is "yes." (If it does, it will be bad news.)

I hope it's going to rain. I don't really know. (It would be good news if it does. I'm a farmer.)
