Spoken communication and Written communication

Spoken communication is always more powerful than written communication. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is generally believed that speaking has more power than writing. As for me, I would argue that both kinds of communication are equally crucial to life depending on circumstances.

Obviously, verbal contact has a considerable impact on everyone because it does not take so long for them to say something. Were it not to exist, I am sure that humans would find it annoying to pass messages, daily events to know what is happening around the world, especially hot news. They could not even gossip with each other which helps them to relax. Another noticeable point is that oral communication plays a considerable role in an argument. For example, when my team is in a discussion for a topic of a school project, teammates have to word their thoughts and additional ideas to support their opinions. Thereby, we are going to sound more convincing and our suggestions will be chosen for the project. If we used typed ideas to explain, it would be so time-consuming and perhaps misleading.

However powerful oral speech is, I am the opinion that words and letters powerfully influence the world too. Firstly, written contact makes life easier. To illustrate, a description helps patients to cure a disease by listing medicines for them to take. Otherwise, an application form informs assistants of customers’ details when doing business. Without paperwork like that, everything would be so vague for people to conduct their work. Secondly, written objects are extremely worthy, especially ancient ones. They often cost lots of money and thus help the owner to either become rich by auctioning them or have a deeper insight into the ancient world. Finally, this way is sometimes an ideal choice for people who need someone to understand a ticklish situation. For instance, back in primary school, my friend used love letters to express her feelings when having fallen in love with a boy which would have been embarrassing if she had said that directly to the boy.

In brief, I still insist that even though the power of spoken language is significant, written language should also be noticed for its impacts since their roles are equal.
