In public relations, spin is a form of propaganda, achieved through providing an interpretation of an event or campaign to persuade public opinion in favor or against a certain organization or public figure. Politicians are often accused by their opponents of claiming to be honest and seek the truth while using spin tactics to manipulate public opinion.

A group of people who develop spin may be referred to as "spin doctors" who engage in "spin doctoring" for the person or group that hired them.

Shouldn't it be 'in favor of'?

So, does this mean that the opponents are of the opinion that the politicians' use of spin tactics is unfair and they simply do it to achive some of their own ends, not for their sake of doing good or elicit truth? In short, to them spin tactics is always a bad thing?

The general opinion of everyone is that using spin tactics is always a bad thing.
