spend on or use

I don't know how to naturally say this. Is it weird to say 'spend salary on rent'?
I use my salary to pay my rent and the commission I make to pay for food.
I spend my salary on rent and the commission I make on food.

Thanks

Dear fivejedjon,

Except from the "rental" which is a matter of British/American English, do you see any other serious mistakes?
I mean "sucks" in the second one is a huge mistake that I made, but how about "salary"?
Is your choice another possibility or it's the only acceptable answer?

Iman

Unless you wish to state specifically that you receive more than one salary, we would normally expect the singular form.
