specification or standards

Here are both situation, how would you say question 1 and 2 if you were trying to convey

A I want to say that everyone knows what such a tree should be like, and this one doesn't measure up.
B I want to say that this person gave me specific instructions about the tree, and you failed to follow them?

1 I bought you the tree but it's not exactly to specification.standard.
2 The insulation on the house isn't to specification. standards. norms.
