-specific ?

Hi,

I would like to ask a word pattern "-specific".

I know if something is country-specific, it means that it is different for different countries. But is this usage or word pattern universal and can be substitute to other words, which means something is different depending on different something. Please kindly explain and it is best to give me some examples.

Thanks very much!

Nowadays, affixes like specific, quasi , mega-, -ability are quite popular, so we are free to attach them on an ad hoc basis to many (usually not all) roots. Their acceptability is something you will have to learn with experience or close observation.
