Special word(s) related to names

Hi. I've applied for an account but haven't received my confirmation email yet. So forgive me for being anonymous at the moment. Here's my question: in my area people often have a nickname of sorts and, particularly in obituaries, I see, for example, Joey "The Whale" Lombardo died on May 1st... What is the word or words that define "The Whale"? I read it somewhere and can never remember. Thanks! 006-1/2

Hi, Clive. No, thanks for your reply, but it was a specialized word, not 'nickname'. Anyone else? I have a witness. Laurie
