Special dietary requests

I sometimes cook dishes on special dietary requests.

Hi,

Does the sentence make sense, especially with regard to the use of the preposition "on"?

Thanks

It is understandable, yes, but the idiom is 'on request'. I suggest: I sometimes prepare special dietary dishes on request. 'Prepare' because I presume some, like salads, are uncooked.

Yes, I would say.

'On request' could easily translate to 'upon request', and both are interchangeable as well as formal. The adjective 'dietary' merely defines or qualifies the noun 'request'.

However, it might enhance clarity if you inject some punctuations somewhere, since someone might easily mistake the intent, presuming the intention - 'on' - to be a reference of 'topic' or 'subject', as in: I'm writing a book on Dietary Request.

In the above example, on' could be substituted with 'about'.
