Speaking hypothetically

Hi,

Which one of the following sentences is correct and why?

1. If ten years back, you knew what you know today, would you have married him?

2. If ten years back, you knew what you know today, would you marry him?

Thanks,

MG.

If, ten years back, you had known what you know today, would you have married him? You either need a comma after "if" or you need to delete the comma after "back".

Hi MG

I don't really like the wording in either sentence.

The beginning of the sentence suggests that 'you' married 'him' ten years ago, and at that time there was something important that 'you' did not know about 'him'. Thus, I would use the usual 'type 3' conditional format:

- If, ten years back, you
