Speak english with confidence

Hi i've already asked athis question but i didn't have an account yet but anyway. I don't want to brag but i consider myself to have a pretty good english : writing, listening reading.

But when it comes to speaking it's a bit different. When i just speak to myself with nobody around, i find my accent to be pretty well "hidden" and not too far from an american one. But whenever i have to speak in front of another person, my accent gets automatically thicker and thicker and i have no idea why.

And as soon as i speak to myself alone again, i lose my accent and go back to the (almost) american accent. Do you have any idea why ?

  • For example, there is no such word in English as " i " and English is a proper noun that must be capitalized.
  • About your speaking, I am not a psychologist, but I suspect that you are thinking too much about your accent and that makes you more self-conscious, which makes your accent stronger, which makes you think more about your accent, which makes your accent even stronger, etc.
