quisiera ser funcionario electoral

do you want to be a poll worker

what is the tense how is it conjugated and are there any variations. I am familiar with the verb querer but it is irregular and i lose it when we go away from basic present tense.

In this context it should be:

I'd like to be a poll worker.

I believe the name of the tense is "imperfect subjunctive". You can also use it in IF statements (Second Conditional) with the simple meaning "wanted": "Si quisiera..., ..." "If s/he wanted (to) ..."
