Souvenirs

Hello,

I'd like to ask you if "souvenirs" can be used in a sense of personal things left after somebody dies, e.g.

"The museum keep (personal) souvenirs of the writer."

Is my sentence correct?

Thank you

A better word is "mementoes."

Either way, "of the writer" makes "personal" redundant.
