1) Television is a source of knowledge and information for us. It is also source of entertainment.

Shouldn't be it 'a source of entertainment'?

2) Who invented the TV?

That's what I would say, but you may hear it with the article, too. There's little logic:

I heard it on the radio. I saw it on TV.
