Sound appropriate?

Do "To what extent on earth do you beleive his story?" and " To what extent is it that you beleive his story?" mean the same? Or pherhaps they don't sound appropriate English? Does anyone help me with this, please? Kenny

"On earth" has a limited set of expressions it can be used in, and this is not one of them. I think it has to be a single word only, for example, "where/what/why/who/how on earth". I can't think of a way to use it for your meaning, but you could say, "How on earth can you believe his story?' or "Why on earth do you believe his story?" These are rather loose, but common, u
