soul message

The soul message of Mahabharata is as fruitful as the study of the entire epic.

I can't understand the violet coloured highlighed, but for the bold one, here is my stab.

I think, the bold mean, one would gain as much as he read the Mahabharata epic. But I wonder why the word `entire' is included here.

Because the epic is very long, and many people only study a part of it.

Thank you Feebs11.

But still I cannot understand the sentence. Perhaps, rephrasing the sentence will help me. Could you do that?

I've been wondering that too! More context might have helped.

I think it must mean the spiritual message: "The spiritual [or underlying] message of the Mahabharata is as valuable as the study of the whole epic."
